Return your EQB. Get your money back.

You didn’t do anything wrong, and you shouldn’t be stuck with a recalled car nobody can repair. We get you out of it at no cost to you.

Why this is worth your time

You don’t have to take the loss.

A recalled electric SUV with a known fire defect is worth a fraction of what you paid. If you tried to sell it, you could lose tens of thousands. You don’t have to do that. You can return it to the manufacturer instead.

If you bought it

Don’t sell at a loss. Give it back.

Selling a recalled EV on the open market means eating the depreciation, potentially tens of thousands of dollars on a car you bought new.

Instead of selling it cheap, return it and get your money back.

If you leased it

Recover what you’ve put in.

You’ve been making payments on a car you can barely use. A lease recovery looks at the payments you’ve made, along with taxes and registration.

Get out of the lease and get your money back.

You got the letter. Now you’re living with it.

Mercedes told you the EQB’s high-voltage battery can short circuit and catch fire while parked or driving, sometimes with no warning. There’s a recall, but the fix isn’t available, and there’s no real timeline for when it will be.

So you’re following their instructions and carrying the cost of a car that no longer fits your life.

That’s a real loss, and it’s the basis for getting you out.

  • You can’t park it in your own garage. Mercedes says keep it outside, away from buildings and other cars.
  • Parking garages and workplace lots are turning these vehicles away, leaving owners parking blocks from where they need to be.
  • You can only charge to 80%, so your range is cut, and a fire can start with no warning.
  • There’s no repair you can actually get, and your monthly payment is still due.

Affected vehicles

Certain 2022–2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB models: the EQB 250+, EQB 300 4MATIC, and EQB 350 4MATIC, built between December 2021 and May 2024.

The defect

Battery cells from an early production period may be less robust. At a high state of charge, an internal short circuit in a cell cannot be ruled out.

The risk

An internal short circuit can lead to a thermal event and a fire, whether the vehicle is being driven or parked, and sometimes with no warning beforehand.

No fix available

An earlier software remedy was found insufficient. The current remedy is full battery replacement, but owners are left waiting, with instructions to limit charging and park outside in the meantime.

What you’re told to do

Park outside and away from structures. Charge to no more than 80%. Live with reduced use of the vehicle until a remedy is complete.

Do you qualify?

The requirements are simple.

You don’t need a history of repair visits. For this recall, the key fact is that you still have the car.

  • You own or lease a 2022–2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB: 250+, 300, or 350 4MATIC.
  • The vehicle is still in your possession.
  • You bought or leased it in California.
  • You want out of the car, not just a repair appointment you can’t get.
