Certain 2021–2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid vehicles. The recall report lists 228,221 Wrangler plug-in hybrids in the United States, built from July 2020 through August 2025.
The defect
The high-voltage battery pack may contain cells with separator damage. FCA reported that separator damage, combined with other complex interactions inside the cells, may lead to a vehicle fire.
The risk
A vehicle fire can occur while the Wrangler 4xe is parked or being driven. Federal filings identify no warning that can occur before the condition.
The prior fix did not hold
This expanded recall includes vehicles previously recalled and remedied under 24V720. Chrysler reported battery-pack fires in vehicles that received the prior remedy software and determined that the prior remedy was ineffective at detecting certain abnormalities.
What you are told to do
Park outside and away from structures or other vehicles. Do not charge the vehicle until the recall remedy is completed. The risk is higher when the battery is charged than when depleted.
